Waves or flames?

The socks for my Sockapalooza pal are growing. The pattern is Waving Lace by Evelyn Clark from the IW Favorite Socks book. The yarn is ShiBui in the color Roppongi. Together, I think they look more like flames than waves, don't you?

I love, love, love this yarn! It's soft and springy and a delight to knit with. I hope my sock pal likes it as much as I do. I will definitely be buying more of this yarn. In fact, tomorrow when I go downtown to Powell's to attend the Yarn Harlot's book launch, I think I'll go early so I can stop at Knit/Purl and get some more.

I like this pattern. It's easy to see the waves develop and thus easy to quickly catch any mistakes (like forgetting to do a yarn over) and correct them. The only thing I worry about is that between the stitch pattern and the stretchiness of the yarn, these might fit a bit loosely. I think they'd fit me just fine, but I don't know if my sock pal has as healthy ankles/calves as I do. I'm going to take my chances, though, because they're coming out so nicely.

I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever start something other than socks. I really do need to pick some yarn and a pattern for a shawl if I have any hopes at all of getting one done by the end of the year. But the mood hasn't hit me full on and it's almost time to start the Summer of Socks, so I'm not sweating it too much. After all, knitting is my pleasurable pastime, not my job, so I should do what I want, when I want, right???

Wow, this sock is going to look really awesome! I totally adore the colorway you chose - and I agree, it looks a tad more like flames! The pattern is such a beautiful one too - looking forward to seeing more of it! Happy Knitting!

You're going to see Steph? Lucky duck! Go crazy early to get a seat/number/whatever to get you as close as possible. Her signings have been huge, haven't they? Wish I hadn't chicken out when she was here :-(
Anyhoo -- take her a take measure. I'm sure she forgot to pack one.

Beautiful! I'm using a very similar colorway, but different yarn entirely. I love it!
