Because I don't have time to write today, here are some pictures for you instead. :)
Malabrigo worsted in the Loro Barranquero colorway. Destined to become the vest shown on the cover of that magazine.
Malabrigo Silky Merino in Azul Azul. Two skeins = 300 yards. Not sure what it will be yet, probably a lace scarf.
Both the Malabrigo purchases above were made today at All About Yarn, where there's still plenty for the rest of you! Yeah, I work there. Come by on Saturday and visit!
The third installment in the Year of Lace (2009 sign-ups available now). This is a beautiful pattern from Amy Swenson and 100 grams of absolutely to-die-for 2-ply cashmere from Handmaiden (they don't make this anymore, but did this special for the club). It is sooooooo soft!
And finally. . .
My very first hand-spun yarn! It's definitely got some "challenges" that qualify it as "art yarn," but it's mine and I made it with my own two hands on my Lendrum wheel while basking in the glory that is Oregon Flock & Fiber. My next bobbin was a lot more even and I'm sure they will keep getting better. Yeah!

Yay! Malabrigo! I especially love the colorway in the first photo. Pretty handspun, too!
Great job on your first self made yarn! Glad you are enjoying the spinning.
I must go find that issue of Creative Knitting; I love that vest!
YEAH for purple and white yarn! That barber pole is pretty; put it up on a shelf in your fiber room so it will remind you to spin and so you can see how much progress you make.
Wow, that Malabrigo for the vest is awesome. I was at a meeting where a lady was knitting that very same vest; she's already made about 15 of them! I loved seeing the progress she was making on it.
Congratulations on your first handspun yarn! It looks GREAT!
