Yes, friends, I've been bitten by the sock bug! I cannot seem to think about anything except making more socks!
Fortunately, the timing of this affliction is fortuitous. Sockapalooooza4 is just beginning, and in another 9 days, I'm leaving for my cruise and socks are the perfect portable project.
So here is my latest installment. On the recent TKG Shop Hop, I purchased a copy of Cat Bordhi's Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles and a set of 24" US Size 2 Addi Lace Turbo needles. Last night I grabbed those, along with a skein of Sockotta purchased on the same trip, and experimented. First I was just going to do a gauge swatch, but then I figured what the heck, let's see if I can really make a sock on two circs. And thus a mini-sock was born.
I didn't really do any measuring or planning, I just used a standard sock format (thanks to the Yarn Harlot's excellent sock recipe in Knitting Rules) and winged it.
I have to say that while I can see the allure of working on two circs instead of three or four DPNs for some patterns, I think I prefer the DPNs. Maybe it's just because I'm not used to using circs like this. I don't know. I'm glad I can work with either method, though, as some stitch patterns would be easier in one style than the other and versatility at my craft is important to me. :)
And I have not forgotten the mate to the Tide Pool sock. The cuff has proceeded nicely and before long I'll be turning the heel -- as long as another skein of sock yarn doesn't lure me away!
Now I guess I better get some 'real' work done so I can afford to

Wonderful yarn and what a cute little trial sock. I know what you mean about two circs, and one circ, but I like my dpns for some reason.
And thanks, now I am going to have to get a copy of Knitting Rules so I have more sock info. :) Isn't this just crazy? You knit along happily and then one day you see sock yarn you can't resist and before you know it, you are knitting socks like a crazed woman. Hopefully I can get into a 12 step program before the sock yarn takes over. :)
Cruise? Where?
And take along more yarn that you can possibly knit. And extra needles, you never know when you might meet another sock adict!
